Breezing Into Fall

Oh, I wish I could figure out how to flip these pictures...........the dilemna of a novice blogger....

I just had to take this picture of her eating Goldfish off the kitchen floor. If there is a child out there that hasn't done this, I'd love to hear about it!

I just love this one of Squeeker. I know he doesn't look it, but he is really sick with a very bad sore throat!

Ok, so I admit...I'm not so good at this blogging thing. Never mind having the time to figure out how to upload a video clip of the kids. But I promise, I am working on it -- it's on my list of things to do this year. Time's a clicking away, isn't it.

We are coming up on a year since Pickles has been home -- it doesn't seem possible, except when you see how much she's grown. She truly is an amazing joy. Adoption has been an amazing blessing -- one I never expected. The bond between the two kids is incredible. ... they soooooo love one another, and of course, we can't forget the drama drama drama when we are in the car. For example, "Mom......Pickles is blah blah blah." And then to look back and see her just irritating Squeeker to no end. She is definitely an instigator. Thankfully, peace resumes between the two of them when we are home. If only we could reduce our time in the car, but most of you know how busy it is being mom.......trekking the kids from one place to another

Gotta tell you what happened this week. I've been REALLY struggling with what to do with Pickle's hair. I went into Sally's Beauty Supply on Tuesday and an AA woman almost immediately said to me: " what are you doing to her hair?" Thankfully, I'm not one of those mom's that gets easily offended. Let's face it -- I'm charting new territory here with the hair thing. And if I had to be completely honest, I don't do a great job of my own hair. Well, 45 minutes later, and fortunately for the checkbook, only $12 poorer, we had a "new doo" and some new products.

Our pastor's wife recommended that I buy a hair net or something for Pickle's head at night. Well, I bought a satin cap and well, let's just say it didn't go over well. I'm already traumatizing her with trying to get this hair thing right and now i want her to wear a goofy cap on her head??

Tonight I had a flashback --- a mental image of my niece (bi-racial) with a scarf around her head at bedtime. I dug through one of my drawers and found a bunch of scarves I used to wear when I had to "dress for work" in corporate america. The pics here are funny........one looks like my Portuguese grandmother, who swears we were from "peasant stock." Well, I'm not totally sure about that, but Pickles got the look down great!

Enjoy a glimse into our life (and yes.....that is my elusive husband in the background).
